2009 Fresh Hop Harvest
August Harvest season welcomed our second annual Fresh Hop Picking Party, once again we enjoyed the company of several regional Breweries. Gathering at the farm Friday afternoon were Pagosa Brewery, SKA Brewery & Steamworks from Durango as well as several home brewers from as far away as Flagstaff Arizona. All of us enjoyed a plethora tasty food and tasty brews we enjoyed an evening of ping pong, darts, basketball, horseshoes and conversation.
Sleeping in the hop garden has become a tradition, Saturday morning started early with a hearty farm breakfast and a large amount of coffee. Once everyone had cleared out the cobwebs from last night we got out the buckets and proceeded to pick about 500 pounds of hops by early afternoon. Fresh hops bagged and ready to go everyone headed home to brew on Monday Morning.
Boulder Beer, TommyKnocker and Colorado Boy Brewery were not able to attend but received Fresh Hops as well, Moab Brewery visited us a week earlier to pick their bounty.
